Spinal or Epidural Anesthesia
Should I get spinal or epidural anesthesia?
When you are coming in for a c-section, should you get spinal or epidural anesthesia? They are essentially the same approach. Their use partly depends on practitioner preference as well as your positioning and body shape. The spinal anesthetic tends to be a bit more complete on the numbness, which makes some people feel more comfortable but others more anxious about not feeling themselves breath. Just remember, if you can talk you can breathe! One benefit of getting an epidural is that it generally wears off a bit faster in the recovery room – up to an hour faster.
